A love to Waco
From 25N Coworking— the new kid in town.
Hello, Waco!
Yesterday, 25N Coworking celebrated our 7th birthday.
As you and I get to know each other more, you’ll learn that it’s pretty on-brand for me to have spent the day feeling immensely nostalgic:
7 years of Mara and myself wearing hardhats, strolling through construction zones, and plotting out where the Community Manager desk should be placed for optimum friendliness and good impressions.
7 years of unexpected “you know them too??”s over Goose Island at Member Happy Hour.
7 years of true friendships that grew out of a mutual passion for life-work balance.
7 years of sipping Freshground Roasting coffee every morning and not getting tired of the Front Porch blend.
7 years of #TeamOrange staff members who get equally excited as I do about making people feel like a million bucks at work.
I think about 25N’s roots often. It helps me stay clear on what we need to preserve and push hard for as we enter at a time of fast growth as a company. Mara and I got started with a simple passion: to bring more joyful, productive work days to suburban-dwellers like us.
As I think about these roots— the best of who we are — I think about you all, and 25N Waco.
Last week, our Waco team and I closed up after 25N’s First Look Happy Hour, slid into red laminated plastic booths at one of the tastiest pizza joints I’ve ever been to, downed a beer in an ice cold mug, and laughed out loud.(Side note: laughter comes easily when you’re hanging out with Mecca and Noah — you’ll get to know that soon enough.) We came to this town confident it would be a good fit for everything we’ve been trying to build; we just didn’t know how much until we got to hang out with you all.
We’ve been working on this project with the Sorrells family for a couple years now, and there’s one thing that has always stuck out in my mind; Waco feels like home. I feel a sense of connectedness with your town that reminds me of how Mara and I felt when we walked through the construction zone of our flagship location in Geneva, IL, 7 years ago. We’re not technically Texas-born-and-bred, but last week, it felt like it. If we know one thing about you, it’s that you love your community. We do too. And we’re thrilled to consider ourselves part of it.
So — all this to say — I think we’re gonna get along swimmingly. And if I may be so bold in saying, a splash of orange looks good on you, Waco.
Thanks for having us.
Meagan Slavin,
25N Coworking Chief Operating Officer
